The Documented Life Project-Week 11

March Theme
Making Your Mark (Doodles & Mark Making)

March 14-Art Challenge:
Journal Prompt:
"Borderline feels like I'm going to loose my mind"

For this week's entry i wanted to create a page around the new Cinderella movie. This story holds a special place in my heart. I loved this story growing up and it brings back memories of when my girls were little. I also wanted to incorporate the movie's theme, "have courage and be kind"

Steps for this week's entry:

1. sprayed the background with Dylusions Ink Sprays - London Blue, After Midnight & Crushed Grape

2. added pieces of stamped & inked tissue paper and glued them down with Matte Medium

3. sprayed my hand carved butterfly rubber stamp with some Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray then stamped my journal
(This created a wonderful ghosting effect)

4. drew in the glass slipper with a black stabilo pencil and added some glass effects with acrylic paints. For the butterfly i used the Kuretake Gansai Tambi gold watercolor

5. i then added some grunge using some white acrylic paint, some more of the Kuretake gold and the Tim Holtz Burlap stencil.

6. i printed out the phrase on tissue paper, using my inkjet printer, and adhered it with some Matte Medium. I then highlighted the letters with a white Uniball Signo Broad Point Gel Pen

7. for my border, i doodled in some swirls using the black ink OHTO Fude Ballpoint Pen. I then used the Uniball Signo Broad Point Gel Pen to add some white swirls and dots

Journal Sneak Peek

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share a sneak peek of my new journal entry. I used the Kuretake Gansai Tambi gold watercolor and was very excited to see how vibrant and rich it is. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that it was opaque and not thin and runny. I used it over my dark inked background. The shimmer pigment is absolutely gorgeous!

Hope you all get a chance to try these out.
Well, back to finishing my page :)

The Documented Life Project-Week 10

March Theme
Making Your Mark (Doodles & Mark Making)

March 7-Art Challenge:
As A Layer Element
Journal Prompt:
Surviving the Elements

For this week's challenge I used some Dylusions Ink Sprays by Dyan Reavely, to spray the background of my journal page. I love the way these inks look on paper. They are so vibrant and fun to use.

Once my background was dry, i placed a stencil over it and sprayed some White Linen Ink Spray. This ink does not stay white. It actually lightens the bottom color creating a wonderful ghosting effect. My stencil still had quite a lot of ink on it so i turned the stencil over on the opposite page to create a reverse effect.

I then used some stencils and Golden Molding Paste to make some dimensional marks. After applying the Molding Paste i noticed it brought up the color of the ink from the bottom layer. I absolutely loved this effect!

To finish off my page i added some circles using the end of a toilet paper roll dipped in gessoa butterfly stamp (from Stampin' Up)and a black Stabilo Pencil

Art Journaling with New Supplies

I have been using my art journal as a learning process. Experimenting with new media and learning from others how to let go and just create.  I do love this process as it has given me the opportunity to play and use new art supplies.

Today i received my Kuretake Gansai Tambi 36 Color Set. It comes in a beautiful box and the colors are so inviting. Can't wait to try them out. I will be posting about it when i use them!

I also purchased my very first ink sprays from Dyan Reaveley and I'm excited to experiment. I will be using them on this weeks DLP challenge!

FREEBIE - Digital Flower Stencil Pattern

I have been seeing so many wonderful mixed media art journals and canvases, with flower stencil patterns, that i was inspired to create my own and i am offering it for FREE!!! Yes, FREE!

The FREEBIE comes as a PNG & SVG digital image, so you can use it with your cutting machines.

Here i used a blank stencil sheet, i bought at Hobby Lobby, and my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the Flower Stencil Pattern.

For this example, i used a makeup sponge and some acrylic paints.

Here i used the stencil and some ink sprays on my DLP Week 7 journal entry.

Hope you enjoy this FREEBIE!
